Overview:

This years Pearce Robotics Travel Off Season event will be the Texas Robot Invitational . Attendance is optional and $100 Extra to reserve your spot. This year the Texas Robot Invitational will be held at the Strake Jesuit College Preparatory Gymnasiums: 8900 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX, 77036 in Houston Texas and the competition will be from Thursday- Saturday June 28th-30th 2018 . We will be leaving Thursday Afternoon and coming back Saturday Night. we will be staying in a hotel for 2 nights.

Hotel Information:

The Pearce Robotics Team looks for hotels that meet the following criteria; Breakfast included, Interior Opening Doors, <15mi from the Event Location, non smoking rooms (non smoking hotel preferred), >=3 star rating on travel review sites. Student rooms are 2 Queen rooms and we at max will put 4 students in 1 room, and at minimum 2 students in 1 room. adults are 2 to a room.

Eligibility Requirements:

Students wishing to go on the trip need to be active members of the Pearce Robotics Club in good standing.

Students must also be passing all classes in-accordance with the UIL Pass Play Rules.

Special Packing Instructions

This is a FIRST Robotics Overnight Trip. Please Remember to pack the following in addition to weather appropriate clothing for a 4 day trip ( The Hotel does have a pool)

Food Information

Each Member going will be given a dinner stipend of $12( 1x $5, 1x$2 and 5x $1) before each dinner meal, they may spend as much or as little of it as they wish and carry over to the next meal.

Some meals will be provided by the event calendar.

Most lunches will be done as tailgates(sand witches) in the parking lot, independent lunches will be give $5.

Study Hall

To ensure that students have a time and a place set aside to complete schoolwork, study for tests, or work on other class related items while on the trip the team has designated the first hour and a half after getting back to the hotel as a study hall time. at this time a designated area in the hotel ( most likely the lobby or breakfast area) will be made a quite area and proctored by a Teacher Sponsor/Chaperone/Mentor to facilitate as a Study Hall for those students that wish to use the study hall.

Travel days will not have a dedicated study hall.

Adult Chaperone Information:

To be a Chaperone you will need to fill out the RISD Volunteer Form (https://www.risd.org/group/community/Volunteer_Opportunities/volunteer-application-form.asp) this can take up to 2 weeks to be added to the list of approved RISD Volunteers so please do so as soon as you think you may want to chaperone.

As a Chaperone you will be responsible for working with the Teacher Sponsors to keep the Students safe, feed, and enjoying their time on the trip, you will also be responsible for keeping the students following the rules of the trip and following the conduct agreement. If you are a driver you will be assigned a list of students and adults that will be driving with you. you may also be asked by the event leaders to take on other responsibilities like lunch shopping, early morning robot team load in, assist with home depot runs, or other administrative items.
